On the new fiber optic infrastructure of the Internet provider novanetz, large parts of Leichlingen and Burscheid-Ösinghausen are already online or shortly before. The fibre-optic age has already begun here and as part of the current start of construction, the network is being extended via Kuhle to Burscheid Hilgen and Wermelskirchen Unterstraße.
Pre-marketing in Wermelskirchen-Tente will start shortly; here, those interested in fiber optics can already submit the documents. Further clusters will start marketing in the coming weeks.
We continue to address all citizens who are interested in a connection to fibre optics and want to make their building fit for the future.
The aim is to identify accumulations of interests in certain areas of the city and then to realize them as in the already realized districts without a construction cost subsidy for the homeowner in cooperation with Primevest as an investor in the passive infrastructure and GFS as a general contractor for the construction. It is crucial that those districts or neighborhoods that are united in favor of fiber optics and communicate about this project, so that everyone becomes aware of it, have a good chance that their area will be realized as one of the next construction phases.
This creates a sustainable supply network that already covers all future requirements for bandwidth requirements and applications. The new network is, even if the current Internet speed on the older copper technology should still be sufficient, highly relevant in terms of the robustness of the connections (home schooling, home office, numerous video and cloud applications) and not least with regard to a real estate valuation when selling or generational change.
Participation in public life is made possible for all generations even into old age with video conferences, TV on demand, telemedicine applications, etc.
Furthermore, the prospect of a comprehensive fiber optic network enables the cities of Wermelskirchen and Burscheid for the first time to think through many new opportunities on the way to a „smart city“ and to tackle the realization of numerous aspects of the digital community.
