Sustainability (ESG)

Our purpose is to ‘provide a sustainable financial future to every individual’. ESG plays an integral role in this purpose and is intrinsically driven. We embarked our ESG journey, as a corporation but also as individuals. We have a tailored and hands-on approach towards ESG and are constantly seeking balance between maximizing risk-adjusted returns for our clients and adhering to ESG principles.

Environmental, Social and Governance

It is our aim to help individual and institutional clients secure their financial future through investments in strategic real assets, while creating a better living environment for future generations. ESG plays an integral role in this purpose and is intrinsic driven. We embarked our ESG journey, as a corporate but also as individuals. We have a tailored and hands-on approach towards ESG and are constantly seeking balance between maximizing risk-adjusted returns for our clients and adhering to ESG principles. In our view it is about taking action, and this all starts with transparency, for instance by measuring the carbon footprint of our own organisation and the asset under management. Here is an overview of our ESG initiatives so far.

First Sustainability Report Primevest Capital Partners

We have launched our first Sustainability Report 2022 as part of our strategy to demonstrate how real assets can create a positive social and environmental impact. The sectors residential real estate, care homes, car parks and communication infrastructure play a pivotal role in society by fulfilling basic human needs for housing, healthcare, mobility and connectivity. They may not traditionally be associated with ESG (Environment, Social, Governance ed.), but it is our responsibility to ensure our operations benefit our society and living environment.

Frank Noé, Head of Sustainability: I’m proud that we have reached this point, which we see as the first step to making our ESG journey visible to the outside world. Our teams have worked together to launch this report to offer insight into what we do and show we are delivering on our promises.”

The target for next year is to demonstrate more examples of ESG-compliant outcomes and impact, Noé added. “As part of our broader ESG strategy, we are exploring the reclassification of one of our existing parking funds from an Article 6 to an Article 8 fund under the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). We are now working on an overarching ESG strategy for our car parking operations including targets and a roadmap for potential reclassification. We also aim to obtain Article 8 classification for our next  Primevest Communication Infrastructure fund, which entails the formulation of specific and quantifiable KPIs, with respect to more efficient use of energy in data transmission.”

UNSDG Goals

At Primevest our Environmental, Social and Governance framework is based upon the UN sustainable development goals, or ‘UNSDG’. The SDGs provide an universally recognized framework for global development. We view the SDGs as a guiding compass for our ESG understanding and responsible practices. While we endorse and support all the SDGs, we identify the following as the most relevant, and closest to our company’s values. These selected goals form an integral part of our corporate and fund-specific sustainability strategies. Primevest will focus in general on the following seven goals.

Learn more about the UNSDG Goals

Gender Equality

Goal 5 – Gender Equality:  In our organization we foster diversity, ensuring fair compensation, and promoting inclusive growth for all our team members. We believe in creating an environment that values and embraces differences, providing equal opportunities for everyone to thrive and advance personally and professionally.

Affordable and Clean Energy

Goal 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy: Reducing reliance on fossil fuels is crucial for both the environment and society. Therefore, SDG 7 – Renewable Energy plays a significant role in creating sustainable communities and shaping a better future. By actively promoting renewable energy in our assets and investing in renewable energy initiatives, we aim to create resilient assets.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: At Primevest, we believe that economic success and a value-driven investment strategy form the cornerstone of securing sustainable employment opportunities and fostering robust economic growth.

Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Goal 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: We actively promote low-emission infrastructure by strategically locating our assets near urban areas with convenient access to public transportation. We prioritize the development, modernization, and repositioning of existing assets to enhance their resilience, reduce emissions, improve cleanliness, and enhance flexibility.

Sustainable Cities and Communities

Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: Our mission is to invest in the future of cities and as such we see the UNSDG Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities as the overarching ambition of our ESG agenda. We contribute to safe and smart cities with a focus on human needs and the environment. Technological and environmental innovations are the binding factors and in one way or another all our funds contribute to the development of sustainable cities.

  • Technology provides the infrastructure backbone by delivering the technology and data to enable people to live more sustainable lives;
  • Residential: provides our urban dwellers with contemporary and affordable housing – and together with our investors we are working to ensure that the housing we deliver is created with long-term sustainability in mind;
  • Parking: car parks are becoming mobility hubs for city centres. They not only provide a roof for cars but take vehicles off the streets and are starting to offer wider uses, such as drop-off and delivery nodes. Surprisingly car parks are one of the most energy-efficient real assets
Responsible Consumption and Production

Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: At Primevest, we anchor ESG criteria in both our company practices and investment projects. When planning our residential and parking assets, we prioritize resource conservation and aim for optimal flexibility and durability. We foster an open and collaborative relationship with all stakeholders, including planners, contractors, and end-users, to ensure a holistic approach throughout the project lifecycle.

Climate Action

Goal 13 – Climate Action: We place great emphasis on reducing emissions, particularly CO2 emissions, as a key component of our ESG strategy. We are committed to making a meaningful contribution to climate protection by actively reducing and offsetting our company’s carbon footprint and that of the assets we manage.

Our roadmap to 2050

Our climate target: Primevest Capital Partners has set a roadmap with sustainability goals how to become net zero by 2050. Although we believe ESG is a process and not an outcome we set the ambition to achieving net zero carbon by no later than 2050, across our corporate organisation and assets under management, in line with EU Green Deal. This is the starting point of our action plan to mitigate carbon emissions which is leading in our journey towards net zero in 2050.

GREEN & SUSTAINABLE

New Office Utrecht

In February 2023 we moved to Central Park in Utrecht, an office building on a Central Station location, which underpins our sustainability ambitions. “The move to this sustainable office fits very well with our sustainable ambitions. Central Park has a BREEAM Excellent rating. Among other things, the building is equipped with energy-saving (climate) installations, solar panels, a 50-metre-deep thermal power plant and has an energy label EPU A++++. Primevest is committed to a consistent approach to ESG across all offices, business units and funds. “Central Park, with its high standards in sustainability, innovation and well-being, is a good match, said Peter Helfrich, Managing Director at Primevest Capital Partners.”
